In our second after affects lesson we learnt how to use the camera settings to create a 3d affect. We were asked to pick a quote or a song lyric too work with for the lesson, I chose a line from Coldplays song Paradise. I chose the line "she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of paradise". I picked a font I thought was quite calming and "Dreamy" and created the words on different layers in illustrator. I then animated them on after affects. I set back the words from each other and used the camera to pan across the words. I then found a free wall texture to use for the back ground. This gave the animation a eire look.
I used standard HD settings in After affects
W: 1920 px, H1080 px, R 75 px per inch.
I created my text first of all in photoshop and realised one imported into after affects the lines around the lettering were quite pixelated and not smooth and crisp. I then created the text again in illustrator and imported it again into after affects. The lettering was smooth and crisp this time.
Tools I learnt
Sharpen
3d on/off
2 views, Top and active camera, you would use this while creating a 3d animation.
The green arrow is to move an object along the Y axes
The blue arrow is to move an object along the Z axes
The red arrow is to move an object along the X axes
to create a camera you would select Layer - New - Camera
I changed the camera settings
Type - two node camera
Preset - 50 mm

JOHN- typographic transcription 1
Our task was to design 3 fonts inspired by images. I used the Bauhaus Building and a monster theme as my inspiration. We had too create 4 specific letters. A N E S G
This type face was inspired by the Bauhaus building image by Walter Groplus I used the cubic shape of the building and created a cube with a hollow type in the middle.
This typeface was inspired by the monsters type face I wanted to create a fun playful font so decided to make a monster font.
This was my favourite type face out of the 3 designed was my other Bauhaus building inspired design. This was inspired by the windows of the Bauhaus building. I created a cube guide for each letter. Making each letter balanced with the odd letter extended. I wanted to create a 3d font which looked futuristic.
STEPHEN- photoshop non destructive editing
In the first half of this tutorial we were learning about smart objects. We used illustrator and Photoshop. We created a wavy path duplicated the path and adjusted the 2nd path so they were side by side. we then selected object - blend and specified steps, we changed the steps to 40.
I then changed the colour to white and opened in photoshop. That was my Smart object created. I can also edit the object in illustrator and it will automatically update on photoshop.
I then edited the gradient and added FX. The Fx I used were outer glow, colour overlay and blending options.
Gradient
Outer glow
Colour overlay
The end result
The second half of our tutorial lesson we was set a task to edit our self portraits using duo tone mode on Photoshop.
First you set the original image to Greyscale. Then change the grey scale image to Duo Tone, You can select 2 colours for the image. I chose #2a14ac and #b91c1c which is a purple colour and a white tone. I then went onto further develop my image by using the dodge tool to create enhanced highlight areas on my cheek bones nose and forehead and used the burn tool to add darker tones to my contour.

Our Task was to choose a font and create a kinetic typography 20 second long video. I found a free font that I liked on dafont.com. The font is called Dolce Vita designed by MuraKnockout + design. Dolce Vita is a capital sans serif font which has a professional appearance. The type face is sharp with the the odd italic character giving the font its identity. The font is similar too the font used in the Dolce & Gabbana logo which I imagine MuraKnockout + design where inspired the designers of this type face. I Decided to use soft neutral colours in my video as i think thats what suited the type face.
